Love And Only Love

Imagine a kingdom; a place well before any boundaries were created; no differences existed; a place where the urge to love ruled; a place governed solely under the solemn promise to protect this habitat – our Mother Earth; a place where everyone existed to support anyone or anything that has fallen; a place where each and every one only worked to be a medium for that higher power that created us; to reach out to the energies of this universe. Every thought that emanated there started from a place of love; a place that mandated us to look after this vehicle created of flesh; a place where the trees, the soil, the water, the fire and the sky reminded everyone of their places in the vast universe and how they needed to love and respect and, needless to say, save the place where they were born; a place where the creator’s voice will be heeded to first and unconditionally. And nothing but love for Mother Earth and its contents came first. Everyone realized that there is a need to respect the power that held our steps together for we understood that it bears our weight, gives and gives, provides for everything selflessly. No animals were killed unless nature required it. No trees were cut unless new ones were planted. If required, only a limited number of trees per year could be cut. There would be no currencies except for deeds of love.

That could be my utopia. But I know it can’t exist. I don’t know and hold enough to know the ups and downs of life on Earth, too many flaws and shortcomings, too many words that can be misconstrued. But I’ve had several messages that human language is flawed.

But what if this is our utopia. What if we’re told by the powers to be that this place was created to be a utopia – a place free of politics and religion. But us, with our penchant to improve things and run towards comfort, disowned the knowledge that our forefathers gained by meditating under the trees. What if the messages they received from our creator were falsified for personal benefits?

Or what if, we were told by our creator that politics and religions are the reasons why our time on Earth is actually a time for our soul to burn in hell. What if we’ve come here to learn our lessons, to live out our years on Earth that count for thousands of soul years. What if we’re told that there are chances that we’ve failed to live out our lessons most of the times and this is the reason we are heading towards our doomsday, a day when Earth will finally reset itself. What if we’re told that this is our destiny and we need to start learning our lessons urgently to finally merge with that single source of energy? What if this is our last and easiest chance to burn our karma and relieve ourselves of pain and suffering forever?

Or what if this is one those stages of evolution when we mandatorily have to go through the tough times? What if we’re told that these times are of transition and that humanity will progress to a higher dimension soon and all those who don’t learn their lessons soon enough, will be left behind? What if that is our doomsday?

No, I don’t believe in the doomsday theory as mentioned by the hilarious “2012” movie. But I do believe, we’re heading towards a time when none of the hatred we’ve created will matter and all those who’ve lived out their lives full of love and have at least tried to do it even during tough times will move on to better places with higher lessons and better chances of merging with God.

When I first started to write this post, and trust me I’ve been thinking about it for a long time, I thought this is going to be my worst post ever for I have no clue about what I’ll write. I’ve never imagined a heaven or hell. Those concepts are nugatory to me. Neither do they fill me with joy nor do they scare me. I believe this time is my time and I need to make it count. I’m carrying a lot of unbeknownst baggage and I’d like to shed it off during this birth inside this vehicle. I’ve been given an extraordinary vessel and it needs to perform as per the creators best wishes. I have no clue what my utopia is. It is possibly when I merge with my teacher beyond my sins that I know I can erase by emanating and spreading love and only love.

Sweet Dreams

Go back to sleep
Go back to sleep.

Away from the window, the truth,

The love, the faith, the people.

Watch those sheep jumping, pumping, hurtling rhythmically to the end of the screen and back again.

Count them so you forget the past,

The tormentors, the dictators,

The freedom seekers, the truth lovers.

Let our reality be the one you live,

Let our truth be all you see.

Sleep my baby.

Sweet dreams!

Inhale-Exhale

OK… go slow! Breathe in, then breathe out!

I know I’m disturbed. The entire last weekend has thrown me off gear. All my ideas have gone for toss. What made the matters worse was, how Daily Prompt changed and became rather unpredictable in nature. Now I don’t know what to expect from the daily prompt. I don’t know what kind of traction will my post receive. I started writing for Daily Prompts about 4 months back and received my best audience with this medium. I found some great friends, and I still keep finding them. Daily Prompts had become my tool to interact socially but not any more. Earlier I knew how many people will at least take a look at my post when I copy pasted the pingback links into my posts but not any more. Now I just put my post out there and wait for things to happen, like everything is out of my hands.

Frankly this sucks! Without traction, a person with a busy day like mine and such limited number of hours in a day and no access to WordPress during office hours, will lose motivation and that’s precisely what I am, unmotivated!

I need to find more avenues and extra hours to write those extra posts and try to always be on it, to meet a lot more of you, read a lot more of you and write a lot more during my free time. My Saturday nights earlier included just pizza’s and TV, but they must now also include writing for reading simply isn’t enough.

But I’ll receive all this as a positive change. I needed to start writing a lot more anyways – to improve my quality, vocabulary, grammar – and long consistent writing is the way to go. Just that the WordPress BS about how pingbacks are used for bumping the good posts and dumping the bad ones, isn’t acceptable. You really have to grow up and see the writers from a different perspective. We are people with lives apart from our work too.

In India, the average broadband speed is second lowest in the world. We are country with a pathetic telecom infrastructure, for our leaders are too engrossed in devouring tax payers money and filling their Swiss Bank accounts. Now to stay connected and create decent enough online  content on our iPads and Tablets, it’s difficult and time-consuming. And then there’s work and the pay masters and wife and dogs to take care of.

Man! WordPress just made writing a lot tougher. I really had huge plans with Daily Prompts but I’ll have to chuck them till something better pops up. Till then, I’m going to spend my Saturday Nights writing and not partying!

This is the end of it though! I won’t crib about the changed Daily Prompt anymore and not let it be in my head and screw up my precious happiness.

Moderation

Among the plethora of things that I hate/despise, one is moderation! And I see it more and more on Indian websites. Are we so easily offended? What’s it all about? And what about that lame and pathetic list of instructions on how and what to blog about, right before you sign up for a blogging or social networking website? I even saw it once on a porn website. Really! What do you need moderation for, on a porn website? Hell, they even corrected grammar in certain cases! Morons!

Here’s what happened when I approached a certain famous blog networking website –

I typed their name on my omnibox and the first name that popped up was their website. Impressive! So they do good. I go to their website, see a host of advertisements, their events, a few famous blogs and say, why not give it a try? I look for a “sign up” button, find a couple of them and click on the largest one.

Next page that opens up, is in all practicality, senselessly useless and an embarrassment to say the least. It’s a page full of heinous attempts to scare ingenuine people off and some genuine ones who were looking for a platform but blogged about contents that may offend a certain audience. And the ones who go on to sign up, feel a fear of some stinky moderators keeping their eagle eyes on every word I write with powers to disavow the blog if they find something offensive or unrelated. I have a question for all those moderators – do you read everything that passes under your nose? Do you use softwares to scan certain words and read only the faulty filtered ones? How is it? Because when moderation was applied on a blog, you never explained moderation and it’s type. So when I write a new post, I know it’s being read, evaluated and then circulated when all I want is circulation. Read it but never stop circulating it, in no circumstance!

When you start an initiative, to build a huge group of bloggers, bloggers need never be aware of any moderation. That seed of fear that you’re trying to sow inside their heads using that set of lame instructions/requests/guidelines is needless. You see amazing talent out there and they all have preferences. Bloggers, when they approach a certain website to spread a word about their website, do not in any condition, want their websites to gain any negative publicity/stamp/thoughts. Some work very hard during their days and come home at night to vent it out and for some it’s their livelihood. You can’t play around with that. They are all trying to follow the rules, but only due to some miscreants, everyone else comes under the scanner too.

My question comes for erotic poems – what are they? Offensive? In India it is. You get offended by even a slight mention of genitals no matter how subtly you do it. Or simple erotic writing? Are these a category that are automatically filtered out. I mean aren’t you killing content? Aren’t you debasing thoughts?

And what about people who yap about politics day in and day out, misinforming people, forming opinions with polling, and such? Is that acceptable? Is it moderated? And if not, why? When you moderate, I believe you are doing a social service. Then why doesn’t your work then include fending off bogus people who mean nothing but to spread false information?

What about foul and indecent language? Do rants count for blogs?

Now to make my side clear, I don’t do any of the above. I write about personal stuff, things that don’t need moderation and yet, I may as well be waiting for a few days before I start using the aforesaid blog networking platform. But these are a lot of questions that need answering.

This also raises a lot of questions about what kind of audience are we, the Indians. Aren’t we ready to read everything and not form an opinion about it and simply say good or bad? Why don’t I see such instructions/guidelines on the pages of other liberal countries? Why do we get offended so much? Why aren’t we liberal enough to simply pass a thought without judgement? Just say – nice words, powerful content, well put, well I see some grammatical errors! People don’t write to get validated all the time. Many a times, they are just fleeting thoughts that are put into words and words can be harsh, disrespectful, violent, erotic, just name a feeling and you have a word for it, well in English, most of them! You can’t keep getting offended by everything. We have to learn to let go until it really interferes with our working/process/thinking.

Think.

Note – This post isn’t particularly about any website. I’ve faced this moderation thing so many times in the past, in so many forms that this post was always on the cards!

Champ – Arvind Kejriwal

Does his sense of humor match mine? Does his demeanor match mine? I don’t know and I’ll never know ‘coz I don’t want to know. Thing is, he has become so candid just like me. Yes I’m talking about Arvind Kejriwal and yes, I’m comparing him with me. Frankly for the first time I feel like I have the power to compare myself with him. He wants to give a lot of power to a common man and that in my opinion is the crux of both his party’s so-called “ideology” and mine too.

He is trying to give people of the  largest democracy in the world something they have stopped dreaming about. We the people have become such slaves to this system that going against it isn’t even thought of. For people as kinky as I am, I think I should take it more positively. But I don’t for righteousness comes before anything to me. Be right for everyone by being right for yourself. Think of everyone’s interests before just the thing thats laid down by this world. It brings harmony to the surroundings but never be wrong to anyone.

I just watched Arvind Kejriwal interviewed  and scrutinized by one of the cruelest journalists in India – Barkha Dutt. She is not a Arnab Goswami. Her firmness never strays even when she goes soft. Thats the art of journalism I guess. She is a champ at journalism and Arvind Kejriwal – a Champ at kills.

I said, he is candid and I think I know where this comes from. It comes from an extravagant understanding of the country’s bull-shit and corrupt politics and that he knows exactly what they’ll thrown at him next – his competitors. That’s the precise reason why he’s never at sea against any question even when he is trying to be fair to everyone. He is repugnant to all his opposition only for his forthrightness. He has pinpointed the problems that the system faces.

Whatever he does, it’s good or so it seems. And the true motive of his party can only come to the fore when he has stayed his course and so has his party. He says his party may be a mix of conflicting opinions but they joined each other to get a single goal – clean and completely uncorrupt politics.

And I totally back him for it. And if need be – his party too!

Arvind Kejriwal announces anti-corruption helpline

Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal announces anti-corruption helpline | NDTV.com.

I’m just loving this. The way this man Arvind Kejriwal is chasing asses of the wrong doers in the government is absolutely awesome and really commendable. It’s been nearly 10 days since Aam Aadmi Party has taken control of the nations capital and fires already burning under the mis-conductors, the corrupts, the lazies! First the electricity discoms, then the water department and then suspending people who were caught receiving bribes. Then he launches the bribery helpline and says,”This announcement makes every citizen of Delhi an anti-corrupt inspector. The purpose is to create fear in the minds of every corrupt individual”.

Bravo!!! But how long will it last, this zeal for correctness, the heart to get everyone treated fairly under the judicial system? I heard him for the first time today and became an instant fan. Him and his compatriots look like they will walk out in open and challenge anyone who criticizes their intentions which by the way are for people and people only. Way to go!

The discoms in Delhi are running for cover – something Sheila Dikshit couldn’t get done in last 4 years. If this continues, this party has a huge future but will it survive the eye of the opposition for very long – remains to be seen!

When the Devils Danced and Fairies Cried

2013 – An year of the unforgettables.

As it comes to an end and I try to reminisce the rights and the wrongs, the successes and failures, the joys and sorrows, the heartaches and some not, the pains and pleasures – I stand ready to be emptied and filled again, like clay ready to mold, like water waiting to be filled in a jar.

Its been that kind of year. I am so depressingly filled with negative feelings that I wish I can be recreated, from scratch – born again to live free and then die again with no regrets. They are bursting to come out. Right people need to know but how will it reflect upon me? Will I stand vindicated? My experience says – No.

So, forget? I Can’t. Tried that too many times and lost.

So, do what? Quit.  I should seek my own space. But that once I’m done reminiscing this year.

The biggest event of this year for me was my siblings wedding, bringing a new member to our family, with cheers all around. He is all grown up now. Handles himself and his wife very astutely. Mom and Dad are mighty proud of him and so am I.

That being said, that has been the only happy event of the year. Rest has been intensely gloomy. The suffering that fate has unleashed upon my home has admonished us to think beyond the realm of possibility. We are broken from inside. She – more so. And yet my love for life stands so much more invigorated again, only the trigger remains unclear. I could start with a thousand things, but then there could be none too.

I turned 30 this year and life has become a parody of suffering, learning, rising, fighting and living. Lemme call this song “My Life”.

I don’t have a long time to live and I don’t wish to live long. I just want to have bombs of happiness dropped on me every 4 months or so to erase the pain inside or at least partly subside it.

Sachin “The God” Tendulkar retired – the second saddest event of the year. His farewell speech will always stay with me in my heart and the hearts of his billion other followers and so will his legacy. No cricketer can and will ever touch his greatness, his humility and passion for his game.

India finally now has had its hands on all the 3 ICC (International Cricket Council) Trophies – The Champions Trophy, The ICC World Cup and The ICC T20 World Cup – the only team to have done so till date. We are proud of you boys – keep going!

The people of Delhi finally came into their own this year with Aam Aadmi Party doing what no other party could do in the last 15 years of corruption – dislodge Congress. Too many scams, rising prices, rapes, molestations have finally forced people to look into a direction that aims to guide Delhi towards mending what has broken completely – trust on government. Lets hope things change quickly and for good and Delhi at least becomes a safe haven for women.

Emergence of Narendra Modi as the colossal giant is the single greatest challenge Congress will face with its reputation also taking a severe dent after the loss in the state elections this year.

I’m neutral but I want change. The Center requires someone who delivers on his promises without hurting peoples pockets. Prices are out of control. Living has become expensive and the way prices of the some of the most basic amenities spirals out of control is intolerable. Potatoes, tomatoes, onions, sugar. Rice, wheat get expensive with not enough storage to shelter the produce. Petrol price seems to have stabilized but I hope other energy products become cheap and available for public. I’m least happy with the situation for women in the nations capital. Nothing is being done to shelter the harmed and stop the harm itself.

Uttarakhand and Muzaffarnagar were two major incidents of the year that have led to massive life and property damages.  Clearly no one can be blamed for the former, for it was the natures retaliation to damage that we inflict upon it. But the other, clashes between castes and the other sects of Indian society, should have been averted. Taking advantage of peoples sentiments towards their religion is the worst thing we can do and we do it without any qualms. In this particular case, people are still dying without even a clear reason for the clashes. Stop it!

Lets make this new year to change our mindset for the better. Lets be happy, love each other, live our lives to the full and learn to take responsibility for your actions. We are the people who drive this nation. Keep it clean. Recycle. Try and curb pollution. Lets make this nation even more beautiful.

Biswas: Some good reads for the week

BBC News – Biswas: Some good reads for the week.

This article is about India and the past week. India is being squeezed. Both politically and economically. Both inside and outside. It’s heart rendering the way Indians are being made to pay more for what could be cheap. Currency is bouncing back after a big time stutter against the dollar. The market is going up. But where we are lacking is an understanding of why Indian law makers appear to be so lax to create reforms. Basic necessities are getting out of hand and as I speak, the writer of this blog is reaching the day one-by-one where he will soon be declared below-poverty-line. Not that India is struggling by itself, it is being made to struggle by politicians, filthy politicians who for their own benefits are stopping reforms that’ll stop their own Swiss bank accounts from filling up with dollars. I do not recall even a single reform measure that has been given a go-ahead in the Parliament straight up till date unless there is only one party sitting in the office. Every one has a voice and they fight and debate and create ruckus of all kinds against anything that takes their own money away. Corruption anyone? Yes, big time.
